The energy developed by most BB guns is 0.5 joules maximum - by comparison a funfair air gun is approximately 10 joules (20 times more). In normal use the lightweight pellets would not penetrate the skin, but would certainly sting or bruise. We would not recommend firing at people but in any situation where the pellet could hit a person safety goggles and clothing should be worn.

Most BB hand guns are cocked by pulling back the top slide. Once cocked ensure that the model is never pointed at anyone, particularly as there may not be an effective safety catch.
