To ensure different manufacturers DCC equipment will work together standards are maintained by the National Model Railroad Association (USA). The terms NMRA standard, NMRA plug, etc. are commonly found on DCC equipment, a guarantee that the electronics conform to and will work with all other NMRA standard compliant equipment.
